Hopefully the next update will resolve some rather annoying bugs. The one that irritates me to no limit is the bug of moving directories off the desktop into other directories.
As soon as I do, all my icons are thrown about on the desktop. Gawd its annoying.

Sadly, I agree. There are other possible explanations, but I'm afraid occam's razor (http://pespmc1.vub.ac.be/OCCAMRAZ.html) applies here. ;)
Agreed too. Perhaps she said 'hi' outside because she recognised you and was just killing some time before meeting someone. Or she was kinda interested and wanted to check on it - who knows, perhaps if you felt awkward, you said something that really put her off?
Either way, if you've been in twice and both times she's disappeared, that's a definite no-no. Given that generally retail staff are employed to be on the shop floor and if they hang around the stockroom, they get bollocked, it's an avoidance tactic.
If you really want a last chance option, go to the store to buy something (even if it's blank discs), watch the theater for a while beforehand, don't make eye contact if you see her and see what happens. So long as you actually buy something, she shouldn't think you're stalking her and she may come over. But I think it's highly unlikely.

The government isn't likely to levy a significant gas tax in the near future. The oil barons will not approve.
They already do. They take our tax money and use it to subsidize the oil companies. And they most certainly approve.

hmm... i wonder if they're a public company. If they can get rid of those problems, and what they're talking about actually works, then i think that company's stock will get pretty high
No...they're not public.

LoL they made 30billion of cuts. Ten times that wouldn't even be enough to save the US economy from absolute ruin. The Democrats are completely clueless as to the danger america is facing and even the republicans think it can be fixed by 60 billion.
The debt ceiling is the last stand for america's economy. If it is raised the total collapse of the US economy is set in stone and it will only be a matter of time.
btw Thomas Veil, your signature is actually false. It was true for some of the 2000s but even if you took all of the money from all the bankers, wall st

Since the iPad data payment can't be tied to a pre-existing AT&T or Verizon cell phone plan, I just don't see much advantage to getting a Verizon iPad unless you live in an area without AT&T service. Thoughts?
Not true. I just added a fifth iPad to an AT&T Wireless Postpaid account, and I fully expect to add more (on that's on order right now, probably more to come).
SOOOOOO much easier than dealing with the prepaid nonsense, with individual usernames, passwords, and credit cards required for every two iPads.

oh, great. Just the thing aliens will use to find out where I am and abduct me again. Yeah, sure I had to opt in, but do you know how hard it is to say no to location features?! I mean seriously, don't they realize all the bad ways people, er 'others', can use technology like this.

The difference here is Samsung settled. With $1billion at stake, Apple will likely fight this to the end. And with countersuits on the line, this will get ugly.
Companies almost always settle. If it got that far, Apple would too.
Greedy or not, if Apple and RIM are part of some patent infringement they have to pay up.
A judge at the ITC already said they don't infringe.
the patent was granted in 1997 and basically covers previewing the picture on the little LCD screen.
No it doesn't. It covers a particular way of producing different sets of image data, one for the sensor and one for the LCD screen, using specific types of color filtering, etc. The patent pre-supposes that previewing the picture on the LCD screen already existed.

Kodak's stock is up 11.5% today. (as a result of this news?)
Unlikely - all that happens if the earlier judge is overruled is that more proceedings happen. It's not like anything that happens today means an immediate payout.
I would really like to read the patent. Yes, there are some very generic patents out there; some are upheld others are not. Going based on only what I have heard; a 1997 patent for a preview of a picture may not hold water.
See above. Patent doesn't claim the idea of using a preview screen.

I'm a *total* Apple fan. I love everything from my MBP, iPhones, iPads....but the Xoom is a *damn* good device. I mean, seriously good.
It's not ready for the masses yet, but if you know even the slightest about tech (in its use, not in more technical aspects), it *really* is a superior device at the moment.
There are a few software quirks, but a sw upgrade or two and those are gone. Besides, the list of "quirks" in iOS/iPhone OS is still large :).
I own all of them and by business develops & deploys our services for the iOS platform, but the Xoom was given to me to convince me to port at least a UI of our backend service to the Android by a partner - and I'm *VERY* impressed by where the Android 3 platform and the Xoom is going. Enough to consider putting dev resources towards building an Android port.
Apple better watch out, they're flying high and iPad 2 is good, but Consumer Reports is right, the Xoom is good, and it won't take much more to make a good competitor. iPad 3 and iOS 5 better be a *huge* leap forward (and shed some of this Jobsian hubris he has from his ego, I love the guy and what he's accomplished, but his ego gets in the way sometimes, and I see it becoming more and more troublesome for AAPL).
Motorola Xoom?

Only the under 30 crowd is excited about this.
But hey, it takes a while to develop common sense.
To the "unhip", this looks like yet another way to bore each other to death.
I must say though, for criminals...things are looking up.
I'm almost 35 and have no issues with this new feature. But i have been using Foursquare for awhile....Most of the non-friends on Facebook live halfway around the world, so I am not really worried about them breaking into my house. Most of the others are Master Masons, and I really don't see one of them doing it. And besides that is what insurance is for...

I got the Verizon 64gb iPad2... I get a signal in my office with Verizon. AT&T dies as soon as I go into my office.
And the speeds are pretty decent on it in my area.
