I dont understand why MS would put a huge vent on top of the unit. Dust will clog the fans like crazy, and with the 360's horrid stability record i would be very nervous laying it down flat on my shelf.
There are huge grilles on both the top and bottom, and on the side. Obviously, everyone knows that heat is the main issue for the original 360's problems, so MS seems to be doing everything they can to ensure that air can get in, no matter which way it is laying. Time will tell how well it works.
What the heck are all of the USB ports for?
It does seem superfluous to have 3 ports now that wifi is (finally) built in and Kinect has its own port.
Well, they got rid of the slots for their older Memory Units, so I'm guessing the plethora of USB ports are to make up for that. Now that you can use regular USB drives for that purpose, they need to make sure you can have a couple plugged in at once, along with any other accessories you might need (guitars, wheels, etc).

White doesn't do it for me much. Is this how Apple wants to attract more female users? I know that's part of why RIM releases white devices...

oh, great. Just the thing aliens will use to find out where I am and abduct me again. Yeah, sure I had to opt in, but do you know how hard it is to say no to location features?! I mean seriously, don't they realize all the bad ways people, er 'others', can use technology like this.
If they get me again I'm
lol.. dang that sucks.

My towns on the list. North Jersey (in Bergen County) town. Awesome.
How does Apple let AT&T get away with this.
Its simple, if Apple wants out of their contact with ATT, then let them do things like this, where Apple can say ATT is breaching their contract and making apple lose sales. So because of this apple is going to break their contract legally.

MS chose not to support calDEV, so no support for google calendars :(
MS Office is BUSINESS software, and Google calendars is not necessarily what I would call a widely accepted and adopted business solution. What the typical Office customer wants is Sharepoint and Exchange Server integration.
(Project and Visio ports would also be more than welcome. OmniGraffle Pro is nice, but most hardcore Visio users either don't find it suitable or just are not comfortable with its different user interface.)

There is absolutely zero logic to the rest of your post either. How has this helped the music industry exactly?
Like i said above, without the RATM thing, only a few thousand people would have bought Joe's single and practically no-one would have bought RATM. Having some competition, inspired people to buy the song they liked. More people bought Joe's and RATM's music than if there would be no 'rebellious campaign'. More money in a industry makes it a lot healthier. Especially for Sony.
As I have said all along, the UK chart is a glorified popularity contest. The most popular record, at the time, wins.
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that the general idea of the charts?
People don't just buy the xfactor winners single because of the name - they buy it because they like it (and it's usually more than a few thousand btw)
Since the demise of the chart show and top of the pops in the UK, the xfactor is really the only music show on telly. Meaning that it is all that the TV viewers see. The common working person who slumps on the couch, tired on saturday night, and watches the xfactor, isn't going to spend their time searching for other music available, when the music comes easy on the TV. With no other music on such a big TV show, it gives the xfactor a kind of a monopoly.
They may like it, but in their eyes (or ears), it's the only thing to like, because they simply don't have the time or the interest to search different genre's of music.
There has also been no significant reduction in music piracy as a result of this campaign - I guarantee it.
But I can guarantee more people have bought music. I certainly have.
There has been no 'rebellion'.
Yes there was. If there was no rebellion, RATM would not have even been suggest for xmas number 1.

They're going to realize that the existing machines they have- or Windows machines that can be had for much cheaper- are quite capable of handling any non-classified activity without switching to new hardware.
So wants stopping apple from added drivers to osx to run on what ever hardware that the army has? Or letting them have custom systems or having the use dells / hp / who ever with mac os x?

I've never had any issues with the latest updates, so I don't really care with 10.4.8...but I wish Safari could be less memory-hungry, or use less virtual memory...that's all.Me too. And I wish Safari had a "Sure you want to quit?" dialog box for those times when we accidentally do a Command + Q in the dark when we thought we were doing a switch application Command + Tab.
Glad to hear it's in Leopard. But having to wait for an entirely new system version to get a little helpful dialog box in one little application seems like an expensive unnecessary delay.

I'd say that's also the primary design flaw of the PC, although it wasn't very hard to overcome. Every normal person DOES tend to have a tech friend/relative just to keep their PC working/updated. I'm that tech friend/relative in most of my social circles, and if you're posting here, you're sure to be one too.
what?
that's not the same thing at all. If your mom calls you on the phone and says "i can't run this new app because it says i need to update" you can walk her through it from 2000 miles away. If she's got an ipad and the next version of Angry Birds requires a new iOS version, and she doesn't have a computer, you can't talk her through that. unless you think this would work:
"OK, Mom, what you need to do is go to Best Buy, and go to one of the macs, and then open iTunes, and sync your ipad with it, and then do software update on it, and then erase your account info from the best buy mac, and that's all you have to do!"
right.

I have been spending ours on this, searching and searching and searching to no avail. Basically, here's my problem. I use Better Touch Tool on my MBP for all of my trackpad gestures and it handles them quite well, except for one. I want to register a three-finger tap as CMD+SHIFT+CLICK or SHIFT+MIDDLE CLICK to open a link in a new tab and jump to that tab automatically in Chrome. The problem is that BTT only allows trackpad gestures to be predefined actions or keyboard shortcuts. The closest I've come so far has been setting three-finger tap to middle click and having to hold down shift, but I want the entire command to be key free. All I want to know is if there's a way to remap the Middle click to any of the F1-F12 buttons.

Seriously...in my area they are like Bubba's Cell Phone Service.
I'm perfectly content with AT&T, but Verizon sure seems like a better business partner with so many current users.

this analyst needs to do better homework. the t-mobile 3g band isn't supported on any of the iphones, including the iphone 4.
As opposed to what, the new CDMA iPhone? As was stated by screensaver400 it would be much easier to add a 1700 band than redesign for CDMA (though numerous rumors have suggested that Apple is preparing a CDMA iPhone.)
As for carriers, look what the iPhone does to networks, both here and abroad. How much complaining do you hear about AT&T and O2 as exclusive carriers? The huge strain on their networks balances out the publicity and business they've gotten from being the sole cell companies offering the iPhone. The unlimited data plan castration will follow the iPhone wherever it goes. It could make a comeback as networks improve, but I doubt it because bandwidth expansion is accompanied with larger/more complex files.
Add an iPhone potentially video conferencing over 3g plus multitasking and no carrier would be willing to shoulder that data load.

IBoth methods have drawbacks: "Not always available" vs. "Not always current."
Given that I've never had a problem with availability, I'm actually interested in an app that promises to stay current without my having to download maps manually ahead of time.
I wonder why the 2 plans have to be mutually exclusive. Why not download the whole database when you get it, for when you might not get coverage. And then automatically update when you do have coverage. When going somewhere, give priority updating to the current route and then download everything else. Maybe allow current route to be updated with EDGE/3G while whole database updates require Wi-Fi. Just my 2

No, you can take it to mean that your argument a crock of unmitigated crap. As for the benefit of cutting taxes, it depends on the context. So don't jump in to tell me I'm wrong "much faster" because I'm not.

I think maybe if you're cutting 4 trillion from the budget, every single item would be effected. If we cut defense spending does that mean we want to be attacked?
What are you talking about, 4 trillion? This is an argument over the CURRENT budget (we are half way through this budget year without one). The Tea Party Republicans are holding America hostage over ideology.
